As soon as the population is increasing, the use of plastics is also increasing and even it has become an integral part of daily life. As the costs of plastics are relatively low and they are easily available, their use is increasing day by day by many people in several sectors. But this much use of plastic has brought the culture of use and throws away.
Each year, there is a production of 100 million tones of plastics worldwide because of the use and throw culture which also leads the problems of plastics waste management across the world. Here we are explaining the process of converting waste plastic into the added fuels which an amazing solution for recycling of plastics. Through this solution, multiple problems are being solved simultaneously which are management of waste plastics and fuel shortages.
The process of waste plastics mainly focuses on the depolymerization in order to achieve different values of added fuels like petrol, kerosene and diesel, lube oil, furnace oil traction or coke etc. The process of waste plastics into the fuel can significantly solve the economic problems of our country and thatβs why the process of converting plastics into fuel has eliminated various problems into the opportunities for making uses from waste.
Generally the waste plastics treatments involve sorting process which is a time and energy consuming process and in which waste plastics can be utilized without any sorting cleaning operation. This process consists of following operations:
(1)Depolymerization:
- Loading of waste into the reactors.
- Depolymerization of waste plastic.
- Collection of liquid distillate along with combustible gases.
(2)Fractional Distillation:
- Loading of distillate into the distillation furnace.
- Collection of liquid distillate fraction from the distillation tower.
In the process, the waste plastic are segregated from the landfills and then stored in the storage tank. By using hot air to the reactor, we can convey it where depolymerization takes place. The depolymerization of the waste plastics under the controlled batch results in the conversion of waste plastics in the mixture of fuels at normal pressure.
Though plastics are opening the new ways for the new innovations but it also ended up becoming a health hazard. At these levels, we need to set up facilities for recycling and disposing the waste.
